Riding through the "Snow Monsters"
Zao Onsen Ski Resort has courses for beginners through to advanced skiers, catering for families with young children and professionals alike. Zao is best known for its surreal phenomena, “Snow Monsters” which are large stacks of hardened ice, formed as wind sculpts snow to frozen fir trees. Skiing through the monsters is a rare treat, while onsen (hot-springs) at the bottom of the mountain soothe tired muscles and revitalise in time for dinner and the culinary delights that await.
